The road has not been easy for Christians in China; since 1949, many have suffered for holding fast to Jesus as the church's King and Lord. Their devotion to following God, even at the cost of life, freedom, and prosperity, has only been possible through a fervent prayer life. Those of us in less persecuted contexts have much to learn from their prayers, which point to the source of their hope.
Refuge in His Fortress presents reflections from the Chinese house church on all 150 psalms, written and compiled by leaders in the movement. Psalms has been the church's prayerbook from the beginning, and when Chinese Christians read and pray through the psalms, they do so honestly, hopefully, and with a deep longing for God's deliverance, offering us fresh insights into these familiar texts.
The rich perspective from Chinese Christians in this volume challenges us to lift our eyes and remember that our ultimate deliverance comes from outside this world, and we can trust God to save, judge, and redeem.

About the Authors
E. F. Gregory is the editor for China Partnership's blog and the writer for The House Church in China podcast. She lived in China for several years but now lives in California, where her husband copastors a multicultural church and she homeschools her three children.
R. W. Chen was born and raised in China and moved to the US for higher education. She has been inspired by the spiritual legacy of the house church, the tradition she was raised in, and she hopes to share this legacy with the universal church.
